“It’s mutually beneficial,” says comedian Jennie McNulty of her comedy troupe Queer On Their Feet to hold its shows in open, progressive churches throughout the country. “It’s a fun and interesting crowd every time. You don’t have the drunken people from the nightclubs — but then again, that could be a bad thing on slow nights.”
QOTF includes comedians Jason Dudey and Diana Yanez, and the show consists of stand-up followed by improv sketches. They’ve been touring nightclubs and churches for more than three years, juggling dates between their own successful solo gigs. When they stop in at the Metropolitan Community Church Sunday night, McNulty says she hopes for a diverse audience. “You don’t have to be gay to get our comedy. We want all orientations. In times like these, it’s a chance for society to just come together for a common cause and laugh at ourselves.” —Sara Havens
