This gig is a road trip worth taking. Woody Pines is from the mountains of North Carolina, Pokey Lafarge paddled over to Louisville from St. Louis, and the Whiskey Bent quartet hails from Pee Wee Valley. Ragtime vagabond Woody Pines is a force of nature. Crossing paths with the Whiskey Bent crew, a kinship was born of banjos, liquor and tall tales. Young purveyors of authentic American music, the Valley Boys are rising fast as Sunday biscuits. Friday evening will surely go down as one of the finest, left of center, old-time music gigs of the season. Prepare to clog, sip fire from a Mason jar and bring your old embroidered fringe ’ho pillow to sit on. I think you can do most all of that at the Hideaway. —Cindy Lamb
