Feeling the wind on your face, the pavement speeding beneath you, riding a bike is high on the list of free fun. But the seedling of transportation has grown into a culture all its own. The recently released documentary “Veer” takes an intimate look into the various bike subcultures in the prominent bike-friendly Portland, Ore. Following five people, the personal stories and struggles show how intertwined the bike culture is in their lives. Gaining momentum from community-hosted screenings, the documentary is also being used as tool for awareness and alliance for bicycle enthusiasts. Donations for the event will be accepted to further the efforts of the city’s own bike culture. —Erica Lawson
