Ever been curious about how the words “just do it” became a cultural mantra as familiar now as “I pledge allegiance …”? “Art and Copy” has the dish. The film looks at the personal odysseys of some of the most influential advertising figures of our time, such as Lee Clow, behind today’s iPod, and Dan Wieden, behind the aforementioned Nike rainmaker.

Featuring rare interviews with these industry heavyweights, Doug Pray’s film examines the ways ad campaigns can transform a slogan into a pop culture catch phrase. Capturing the creative energy and passion behind some of America’s most iconic campaigns, Pray gives us a window into people who have changed our lives in ways we may not realize. The screening is sponsored by the Louisville Graphic Design Association and the Louisville Film Society. —Dennis O’Neil
