Local filmmaker Roy Germano returns to Louisville to present his award-winning documentary ”The Other Side of Immigration.”
“The Other Side of Immigration” was shot in rural Mexico while Germano was conducting a survey of over 700 Mexican families as part of his doctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin. The film encourages novel and creative thinking about immigration policy by examining the root of causes of immigration and the effects of immigration on those who remain behind in the Mexican countryside. The film’s message is both powerful and subtle, avoiding dogma and and ideology to present a well-reasoned investigation of this critical social, political, and economic issue. It is a film every American should see.
