Art is everywhere, including the billboards that dot our city. The “Equally Yours” public art project, curated by Christa Faulkner, features the work of 10 local women artists. They each have something personal to say.
Rachel Seed, whose billboard is at Grinstead and Lexington, uses art to express the loss of her mother. “My mother died when I was a baby, and, as a documentary storyteller, I decided I wanted to give other motherless women a forum in which their stories could be told. In 2006, I created the Motherless Project … to photograph and interview women whose mothers died when they were young, before they reached age 20.”
Information about the other artists’ billboards can be found on the website. —Jo Anne Triplett
