‘Earthworks: Art Quilts’ @ Carnegie Center

Through Dec. 30

Nature and how we relate to it is the focus of the latest show by members of River City Fiber Artists. The art quilts of Pat DaRif, Joanne Weis and Valerie White feature many aspects of what we mean when we say “earth.”

“The work in this exhibition has been inspired by our universal connectivity to the earth,” says Weis. “Earliest intelligent life is evidenced by seeds and agriculture. Food is embedded in our rituals of passage, worship and other significant social experience. Much of our world is threatened, but as we recognize potential catastrophe, we are beginning to take some corrective steps.”

The Carnegie Center has organized public programs related to “Earthworks.” They are free, but registration is required. —Jo Anne Triplett
