Gallery Ex Voto is a new gallery in East Market. The artist collective is featuring an artist who works in unusual media. The result: sensuous shapes and color.

“Similar to encaustic paintings, my works are mixtures of oil, wax and tar layered on wood,” Monique Motiff says. “When I paint, I am forever drawn back to nature and the landscape as an escape from the ever-changing modern world. Though nature is constantly in flux, it consistently nourishes and embraces us all and reflects a part of life that is peaceful and reassuring.” —Jo Anne Triplett
