Beginning blacksmith class at Kaviar Forge & Gallery

Kentucky artist/blacksmith Craig Kaviar is opening his workshop this fall to teach his popular beginning blacksmith class at Kaviar Forge & Gallery, 1718 Frankfort Ave., 561-0377. Working in his studio students will get hands on experience working on coal, natural gas, and his unique waste vegetable oil forge. While learning basic techniques students will make simple items for themselves including J hooks, nails, leaves, and finally a forge welded fireplace poker.

The next class is scheduled to start Saturday October 9 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and will run for five consecutive Saturdays for 15 hours of blacksmithing instruction. Classes are limited to 10 students and the $400 class fee includes all tools and materials.
