Call for artists

The Carnegie Center for Art & History and the New Albany Urban Enterprise Association are accepting proposals from artists for the 2011 New Albany Bicentennial Public Art Project. The submission deadline is January 3, 2011.

Each selected artist or artist team will receive an honorarium of $4,000.  Three artists or teams will be selected from the proposals to create outdoor artworks that will be installed in the Spring of 2011 to remain on view for two years. Each selected artwork will interpret one of the following historic themes: Farmer’s Markets; Manufacturing; Newspapers & Broadcasting; and Textiles, Wholesale to Retail.  Attention must be paid to this aspect of the project, as interpretation of the chosen theme and historical appropriateness will be a factor in the selection process.
