Weekend visual art events

The Louisville Visual Arts Association’s Children’s Fine Art Class (CFAC) program, 896-2146, is now enrolling students for the Fall 2011 semester. CFAC is a scholarship-based fine arts program and admission into CFAC is competitive, and granted by invitation only. Class placement is administered on a first come, first serve basis with only 12 students per core class and 10 students per advanced painting or academy class. High school student’s portfolio reviews available on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Preston Arts Center, 3004 Bardstown Rd., 454-9954, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and Preston Arts Center, 315 Pearl St. in New Albany, 812-944-0181, from 1-3 p.m.

The Speed Art Museum, 2035 S. Third St., 634-2700, will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 28, so that its employees can participate in the Iron Man competition.

Gallery 104 in La Grange, 502-222-3822, is having its monthly “Meet the Artist” event on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 5-8 p.m.

Cabaret Life Drawing and Yoga with Art at 21c Museum will be canceled this Sunday, Aug. 28 due to downtown street closings for the Iron Man race.

The Kentucky School of Art and Spalding University’s Huff Gallery are having receptions for two exhibitions on “Art Sunday,” Aug. 28 from 2-4 p.m. Linda Erzinger is showing at Huff Gallery, while Russ Hulsey is at the Kentucky School of Art. Both exhibitions are up through Oct. 2. Both schools are located near Third and Breckinridge.
