Affrilachian Poets at KMAC

The Affrilachian Poets will be reading at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, 589-0102, 715 W. Main St., on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. Free with museum admission.

The Affrilachian Poets are an ensemble of African-American writers that challenge simple notions of an all white Appalachian region and culture while drawing on traditions such as the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts Movement, and experiences of the African Diaspora. The poetry of the Affrilachian Poets celebrates their African heritage and rural roots while encompassing themes of racism and Black identity. The Poets that will be reading at this event are Bianca Spriggs, Makalani Bandele, Ricardo Nazario-Colon and Mithchell Douglas.
