Spalding University’s Huff Gallery is showing “With Child: Art and Parenting.” This exhibition includes a catalog, hands-on creativity stations and free family art workshops every Sunday during the exhibition It is on display through Dec. 9. “With Child” will have hands-on creativity centers and activities that encourage a participatory interface with the work and the ideas. This will include four free family art workshops offered in partnership with educators from the Speed Art Museum and Jefferson Community and Technical College Department of Art. The workshops are open to all ages and do not require reservations.

Jefferson Community and Technical College Student Educators will be on hand to help you create an intergenerational work of art. Bring photos of your family, homes, anything you want to preserve in a simple Families ‘Jazz Writing’ experience. All participants will use what they bring or they can use the variety of art materials on hand. Students will teach a process called Jazz Writing. Jazz writing requires NO artistic skill, only the willingness to express and create. Working alongside younger family members, you will create a representative piece that speaks to your family name, origin, and its meaning.

Trading Card Workshops with Speed Art Museum Educators

Artist Trading Card Starter Workshop
Speed Art Museum Educators will be on hand to help you create fun Artist Trading Cards! Come experiment with mixed media on a small scale. Combine paper, fabric, embellishments, and stickers with stamping, stenciling, and other techniques to create artworks to collect and trade with family, friends, and others across the city.
