I remember first hearing Maroon 5 on the “Love Actually” soundtrack and thinking they sounded like Jamiroquai reborn — poppy R&B mixed with a little funk rock. Two albums, several Grammys and millions of downloads later, the quintet has made a nice little niche for itself on mainstream pop radio. Debut album Songs About Jane hit the scene in 2002 and featured hits “Harder to Breathe” and “This Love.” And the follow-up, 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, produced No. 1s like “Wake Up Call” and “Makes Me Wonder.” Frontman Adam Levine and the boys are doing a cross-country Back to School college tour and stop in at Bellarmine University Tuesday night. Tickets, available only online, are $20 for students and $40 for everyone else. K’Naan opens. —Sara Havens
