First Friday Trolley Hop is the first Friday of the month, April 5. Explore the art galleries, museums, shops and restaurants along East & West Main & Market Streets from 5-11 p.m. Hop on and off the free trolley.

ART+FM will begin broadcasting its daily programming during First Friday from its NuLu location, 829 E. Market St.

“Bluegrass Bourbon: By the Bottle/By the Ounce” opens during First Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, 715 W. Main St., 589-0102.

Garner Narrative, 642 E. Market St., 641-8086, is opening “Days of Worry and Wonder” by Tim Crowder during First Friday from 6-9 p.m.

The Speed Art Museum is presenting “History, Memory, Art” on Saturday, March 16 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Frazier History Museum. First, journey with us through history as an interpreter helps us honor Women’s History Month. Then, discover local artist, Jacque Parsley, by interacting with one of her contemporary pieces. Next, work together with your family to create 3-D memento boxes and personalize your piece by bringing items from home to incorporate into your art. Sign up now for this special event to create memories with your family and the Speed. Free to Speed and Frazier Museum Members. Parking is available in the Frazier lot for $3. Clay open studio now at KMAC

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, 589-0102, 715 W. Main St., is offering a clay open studio program for adults and teens who have basic clay experience and are looking for dedicated time in a studio to focus on projects or would like time to practice. Registrations are based on a year, 6-month, 3-month, or per-month time commitment. Adult studio hours are Wednesday through Friday from 2-5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm. Teen studio hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm. Participants are welcome to work in the studio anytime during the designated open hours. The clay open studio includes: box of clay, glazes, basic tools, studio space, storage space and access to a kiln twice a month.

Teen Clay Works is a great opportunity for high schoolers to strengthen their clay skills and portfolios. Teens will work independently, but will have access to artists who will guide them through creating exhibition ready artwork. An exhibition of finished works will be held at KMAC once a year.

The cost of this program: ADULTS, 1-Year $540, 6-Month $300, 3-Month $165 or $60 per-month. A 15% discount is applicable for KMAC Members and college students with valid student i.d.

TEENS, $20 per-month (limited to 1/2 box of clay).

Here’s additional information on the Aegis’ symposium on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft: Pre-registration for the “Taking the ‘s’ Out of Craft” symposium has closed. Admission is $6, free to KMAC members and students with ID. The accompanying exhibition will be up through March 24. Admission to that is also $6 and free for members.

Speed staff to move to NuLu
