The Carnegie Center’s next Free Family Fun Workshop is Faux Stained Glass Flower Window Hangings for Mother’s Day. It will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. We will be making Faux Stained Glass Flower Window Hangings for Mother’s Day using tissue paper, Contact paper, construction paper, and string. The Little Loomhouse, 328 Kenwood Hill Rd., is exploring sculptural basketry with sculptor Dennis Shaffner on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Students will first be guided through the weaving of spherical baskets and then encouraged to personalize with brought and gathered embellishments: vines, buttons, ribbons and other personal items to create beautiful works of art. $40/members, $50/nonmembers, $14 materials fee. Register early—limited to 12 students. Bring light work gloves, pruning shears, a water bucket and personal embellishments to use and share. Preservation Louisville, Inc., The Brennan House Historic Home, 631 S. Fifth St., is hosting a Historic Preservation Tax Credit Workshop on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The workshop will be led by Joe Pierson, Historic Preservation TaxCredit Consultant with Pinion Advisors. Mr. Pierson will share with  participants his in-depth knowledge of qualifying and applying for Federal and State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits that can equal up to 30% of their rehabilitation project’s cost. He will also provide one-on-one assistance with questions they may have about rehabilitating their historic commercial building or home utilizing the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

PYRO Gallery’s next artist workshop series is “Narratives in Clay/Clay Relief Tiles” conducted by John McCarthy on Sunday, March 24 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. It is a Family Workshop (Adults with kid’s welcome) $45.00 adult, 70.00 (Adult and child). 909 E. Market St. This workshop will familiarize participants with techniques to create 3D, clay tiles in high relief based on a story or poem of the participant’s choice.

The free drop-in family art workshop will be making Mice Hand Puppets using felt, yarn, wiggle eyes, and glue. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Suggested ages 2-12. Fifth St., is holding a workshop on historic home care on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1-4 p.m. It will be led by architect Gary Kleier, who has 35 years of experience, and specialties in historic renovation, restoration and  applying green concepts in historic structures.

Participatory Art Meets Activism Grant Workshops: All workshops include networking time and discussions of feminism, art for social change and grant application components. Free and open to the public. Healthy snacks or light meal provided. The Louisville workshop is Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library.
