UofL’s Archives and Special Collections has extended the closing date for its exhibit of items from its Harlan Hubbard Collection. It will now be on display through mid-July. Lower Level, Ekstrom Library.

Poetry and jazz go together like wine and cheese, and this evening you can experience all of the above (along with a variety of other writing styles and libations) at our annual Literary LEO event. Every year we ask readers to submit their most inspired works in the areas of fiction, poetry and “something different,” a category that knows no creative bounds. We also invite photographers to participate, providing a visual element to this literary undertaking. Judges review the hundreds of entries, and the end result is an impressive collection of work, which we’ll celebrate at this evening’s soiree. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, with the winning photographs on display and the authors reading their works aloud — accompanied by a jazz trio — beginning at 7 p.m. Time to eat, drink and be literary. —Sarah Kelley

New art radio station ART+FM hosting community meeting

The new art radio station ART+FM is having a community meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at 829 E. Market St. (formerly La Bodega). ART+FM welcomes and encourages community participation in this project both on the air and behind the scenes. Their definition of artist is broad: musicians, performers, writers, athletes, painters, photographers, sculptors, dancers, filmmakers, philosophers, scientists, and more — the trained and untrained, the local and the superstar.

The Louisville Review is publishing a special, all-Kentucky issue this winter to honor our close friend, Kentucky Poet Laureate Maureen Morehead. Dogged Dream Creations LLC is issuing a call to artists, poets, models, musicians to submit interest/work samples for juried show May 29 at Saints Sky Bar as part of regional performance artist Divinity Rose’s next performance/show. Show is presented with help from painter Kenn Parks and international fashion designer/make up artist Genna Yussman. Show is titled “Poetry, Pop, and Paint.”

Deadline is April 14. Participants will be notified by April 18. Production company will take 15% of any art sold.
